Volunteer at the Farm
There are many volunteer opportunities at the farm. Our goal is that all folks who volunteer will learn enough about gardening so that they feel empowered to grow their own food at home. To reach this goal we use permaculture methods that once implemented makes gardening much easier and productive. You won’t see a lot of farm machinery and tilling – we build up the soil, so the worms can do that work!
Tasks will include field and hoophouse work, greenhouse work, harvesting, food pantry prep and delivery, and garden bed prepping. Skilled folks can help us build and repair.
Volunteering basically begins in mid-March through November. Work days are Tuesday – Saturday, 9 am – 4 pm. If you have other times will have to be worked out with the farm manager.
We accommodate college interns, large groups, and challenged youth and adults who work in our ‘Companion Planters’ program. Details need to be organized with the farm manager who can be reached at greengrower@ripplingwaters.org.
