Food Connection Corps

What is the Food Connection Corps?
The Food Connection Corps (FCC) is an after school / summer youth development program at Rippling Waters Organic Farm that brings together 8 teenagers from MSAD #6 to make a difference in their community. Students will first be engaged in an after school entrepreneurial project where they will learn how to make bread, baked goods, and other value-added products. FCC members will also learn all aspects of organic market farming practices by growing organic vegetables during the 6 week summer program. The program provides life skills, job readiness and personal growth experiences for students willing to accept such an important challenge. Students will learn about agriculture, nutrition, and hunger; and learn about themselves and others. We welcome applicants who are willing to work hard and ready for a challenge.

When?

The after school component begins mid-May 17 and ends September 30 from 2:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Fridays. The six week summer component runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday – Friday, the end of June to the beginning of August. FCC members may receive a stipend for their full participation.
