Walking through the woods yesterday, I realized that the sap has probably been running many days when it goes below freezing at night and above freezing in the day -you know like those 40 and 50 degree days we've been having. Another example of climate change and it will change the maple syrup industry, because it isn't efficient to try and collect a small amount of sap throughout the winter, rather than a large quantity during the winter thaw. Winter thaw is becoming quite short, which I think will be true this year as well. A natural sweetner - maple syrup - but getting more expensive due to climate change.

Isn't it crazy though, that it can snow all day, and only get an inch of snow?
Last year I had a wonderful heart labyrinth on my front lawn, that I could walk & meditate.

Snowing like mad today, Marina and I are hunkered down by the fire reading about soil science and pouring over seed catalogs. Just got our seeds in at the farm, we will be sorting them this week- I cannot describe how exciting it is, endless potential. The soil awaits us!
